Abstract
Crime against women is one form of social pathology that is seemingly on the rise. It is often believed that its roots lie in the inherent socio-cultural fabric of a society where inequality of genders serves as a common matrix to breed such crimes. The phenomenon has to be however examined and understood at various levels and a comprehensive remedy found to stem its tide.
