Autogenic Relaxation in Heart Care

Abstract
Mental relaxation has been prescribed as a useful technique for the management of cardiac patients. Clinical observations and experimental studies have proved the effectiveness of rest, relaxation and a peaceful state of mind in releasing beneficial impact on acrdiaovascular system. Autogenic relaxation response has proven ability to obtain desirable fall in heart rate, blood pressure, cardiac output and metabolic rate. It has been demonstrated that meditation is a very useful technique of autogenic relaxation response. Various methods of realising this very useful technique during the day-to-day life of common man have been briefly described in the paper.
